Science Behind our Product

Eyelash growth can vary from person to person. But in general, most of us have approximately 100-150 lashes on the upper lash line and approximately up to 80 lashes on the lower lash line. Each lash is connected to the root beneath the skin, and a bulb where the new lash begins to grow. Each bulb is connected to the dermal papilla (which is the blood supply) and this nourishes the lashes, so they can grow. Eyelashes go through three distinct phases of growth cycles: Anagen (active growth), Catagen (transition) and Telogen (resting). This 3-step cycle can take between 4 – 11 months to complete depending on the individual.

The Anagen phase is the active growth phase and the blood supply feeds the lash to help it grow. This phase can last for 4-10 weeks and the longer the lash stays in this phase, the longer it is going to grow. Our Lash Silk serum works with your body’s natural cycle to extend the duration of this phase so your lashes and brows can grow for a much longer time-frame. At any given time, about 40-50% of lashes will be in this phase, so you may notice growth of some lashes more than others. The rest of the lashes will be in other phases so their time will come when they will also be in the growth phase😊.

The Catagen phase is the transition phase where the hair follicle starts to shrink and detach from the blood supply. This phase still maintains the length of the established lash and lasts about 2-3 weeks. Our Lash Silk serum comes in to play by nourishing and strengthening the lash and follicle to keep the lash from falling out for as long as possible. This allows the lash line to look fuller and thicker at any given time.

The Telogen phase is the rest and shedding phase where the lash sits and rests while a new lash hair begins to develop in the follicle. This stage lasts for about 3-4 months and our Lash Silk serum works within this phase to help speed up the telogen phase and allow the lashes to move into the anagen phase sooner than they would naturally.
